NOVEMBER 18, 2021 SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – OVERNIGHT: BAD NEWS FOR BIDEN KEEPS COMING – FROM BREITBART: Joe Biden’s job approval rating has sunk to 36 percent in the latest poll from left-wing Quinnipiac, and the Republican party is up eight points on the generic congressional ballot. Keep in mind that Quinnipiac is an infamously left-wing pollster. So anything Quinnipiac can do to juice a poll in favor of Democrats, Quinnipiac will do. And still, this poll is ALL bad news for Democrats. In an open-ended question, allowing for any answer, Americans were asked what they thought was the most important problem facing the country today. Americans’ most frequent responses are… • Division/Polarization: 11 percent; • The economy: 10 percent; • Immigration/Border security: 8 percent; • Inflation/High cost of living: 8 percent. Americans were asked which party would do the best job handling the problem they mentioned: a plurality (46 percent) say the Republican party, 35 percent say the Democratic party, and 18 percent did not offer an opinion. The Republican party is up by double digits, by 11 points on the most important issues to voters. On the generic congressional ballot, the GOP is up eight among all adults (46-38 percent) and up five (46-41 percent) among registered voters. I don’t think we’ve ever seen numbers like that in favor of the GOP. Great. But let me again be the party pooper. Those are today's numbers, but the midterm elections are a year away. Now the Republicans must run as if they're 20 points behind. No overconfidence. No smugness. Ready for combat every day. We'll celebrate after the numbers actually come in. ANOTHER DEM DISASTER – OVERNIGHT: Republicans have overtaken Democrats in registered voters in the critical state of Florida. The implications of this, both in next year's midterms and in the 2024 presidential election, are enormous. From Bloomberg:
COMMENT: The statistical change also puts the focus on Florida's Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, a probable presidential contender for 2024 should Trump decide not to run. If Republicans can nail down Florida early, it will give them a fast advantage in running their 2024 national campaign. Also, Republicans, buoyed by success in Florida, are no longer automatically conceding California to the Dems. Although winning the largest state in the presidential contest is still a long shot, there are areas of California that are moving rightward, in response to the state's horrible Democratic leadership and degraded living conditions. California is also suffering an exodus of voters, who often prefer red states because of lower taxes and better conditions. If California gets wobbly for the Dems, it would be a political earthquake. Caused by global warming, of course. November 18, 2021 Permalink
NOVEMBER 17, 2021 SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – OVERNIGHT: HOW MUCH HANDWRITING ON THE WALL DO WE NEED? – FROM FOX: An endorsement from former President Obama and House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn in reliably blue Columbia, South Carolina was not enough to push the city’s Democratic mayoral candidate over the finish line. Republican mayoral candidate Daniel Rickenmann, a businessman and Columbia city council member, defeated Democrat Tameika Isaac Devine by a margin of 52% to 48% on Tuesday night in Columbia, which sits in a county that President Biden carried by almost 40 points in 2020. Former President Obama, according to Washington Free Beacon, released an audio message in support of Devine, and the former president carried the city’s county by 29 points in 2008 and 33 points in 2012. Rep. Clyburn, one of the most prominent Democrats in both the South and the Black community, who many believe saved President Biden’s flailing 2020 campaign with his endorsement, also endorsed Devine. My heart breaks for the dear Democrats. If they'd occasionally listen more to the people and less to the "I love Lenin" fan club, they'd be much better off. November 17, 2021 Permalink
THE WARNINGS ABOUT CHINA ARE COMING EVERY DAY, BUT FEW IN THE DYING LEGACY MEDIA SEEM TO CARE – FROM THE NEW YORK POST:
COMMENT: There are people in the United States, some of them "experts," who still believe that the Japanese could never reach Pearl Harbor and that Nazi Germany has been misunderstood. Eisenhower warned that modern warfare is so fast that we must be especially prepared to counter an attack immediately. I'm not sure that, despite 9-11, Americans have learned that lesson. The national defense Democrats of old no longer exist. The Republicans wake up occasionally, but not enough possess a sense of urgency. We may, sadly, have to experience another catastrophe to get our brains in order. November 17, 2021 Permalink

It nurtures dependence through its empire of government programs.
